Commercialbank Qatar Masters launches App

Golf fans will be able to keep up to date with the latest action at next week’s Commercialbank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy thanks to the launch of a new Qatar tournament app.

The new software application is now available to download free of charge from the App Store and Android Market and will provide an important platform for event, which will be staged at Doha Golf Club from February 2-5.

The Commercialbank Qatar Masters app offers a number of options including daily tee times for the tournament, a live leaderboard, a detailed course map, player picture galleries, a history of the $2.5 million tournament and all the latest news and interviews.

Created to help enhance the overall experience of golf fans attending the 2012 event, the app is yet another intrinsic part of an audience engagement strategy and will sit alongside the event’s website, its presence on Twitter and Facebook and the on-site live radio broadcast to bring spectators even closer to the tournament.

"The iOS and Android app is part of the organisers’ commitment to using the latest technology to make the tournament more accessible to our customers and spectators as well as golf fans around the world,” said Andrew Stevens, Group CEO of The Commercial Bank of Qatar, organisers of the tournament in association with the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the Qatar Golf Association (QGA).

With a star-studded line-up that includes World Number Two Lee Westwood, World Number Four Martin Kaymer, World Number Ten Jason Day, former US Open Champion Graeme McDowell and US PGA Tour stars KJ Choi and Hunter Mahan, the Commercialbank Qatar Masters is expected to see record attendance figures at Doha Golf Club.

As well as the mobile app to keep fans up to date with the action, Commercialbank Qatar Masters Radio will broadcast on a specific FM radio channel with an experienced international broadcast team delivering live commentary, player interviews and analysis.

Fans looking to connect with the event on Twitter should follow ‘CBQatarMasters’, while a search for ‘Commercialbank Qatar Masters’ on Facebook will take browsers to the event’s page.

“The tournament has become such an important part of Qatar’s social and sporting calendar,” said Qatar Golf Association (QGA) President Hassan Al Nuaimi. “I am sure spectators will enjoy being able to follow the action on their mobile devices and radio headsets no matter where they are on the course.”

Tickets for the tournament are on sale at Doha Golf Club and The Marriott Doha priced QR50 for daily access and QR175 for a season pass with entrance also including live nightly entertainment from Billy Ocean, The Beat and Arrested Development in the Tournament Public Village.
