Commercial Bank Qatar Masters day one - What they said

An opening 64 on day one of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters handed Bradley Dredge a one-shot advantage over the chasing pack at Doha Golf Club.

Here, we take a look at what some of those who will be attempting to reel him in had to say after their rounds.

Mikko Korhonen (65, -7)

"I thought I would probably have a chance today because it's definitely the most calm day I've seen here. I hit it pretty solid off the tee and irons as well. I didn't make too many mistakes. I hit it in the rough a couple of times and it's not easy. I'd have to say, it's more difficult than past years. I made a few putts, a few long ones and didn't miss any short ones. That's basically it."

Nathan Kimsey (66, -6)

"It was a great day. I just went out this morning trying to play some good golf and get off to a decent start and I managed to do that. We saw the forecast yesterday and knew it was going to be calmer but there wasn't a breath for nine or ten holes out there and, even the back nine, it wasn't too much. It was a little surprising but it was nice to play in. It's nicer when you prepare for the bad conditions and then you get nice ones. It's a bit tougher when it's the other way around. You had to take a few different lines off the tees and you're hitting a lot of different clubs into the greens. So it did take some adjusting but thankfully I did that."

Kiradech Aphibarnrat (66, -6)

"I'm hitting the ball well, solid golf. I just missed one green, one bogey, one bad shot today with a three-putt from probably about 12-13 yards away. Today was completely without wind. I couldn't imagine that when we played here three or four years ago with a lot of wind and it's so quiet today. I'm just going to keep doing well and keep things positive and just believe."

Thomas Detry (67, -5)

"It was way different than the last few days. Not a lot of wind, almost nothing this morning at 7.00. The greens were perfect. I made a good putt on my second hole for birdie and from there I just had it going and I kept making some good putts. A bogey-free round, very pleased with that. It was a good day. Starting off the season strong in South Africa a couple of weeks ago, it makes a big difference. So I'm confident in my game. I think if I keep doing what I'm doing I'll be fine for the week and the rest of the season."
