Six amazing statistics from Collin Morikawa's first Major victory at the PGA Championship
• The 2020 US PGA Championship was only Morikawa’s second appearance in a Major championship, and first at the US PGA. His only previous Major appearance was at the 2019 U.S. Open, where he finished tied 35th.
• With a final round 64, Morikawa tied Steve Elkington for the lowest final round ever recorded by a US PGA Champion, which he set at Riviera in 1995.
• With a 65 and a 64 in his final two rounds, Morikawa set the lowest closing 36-hole score (129) in Major championship history. The previous record of 130 was held by Tiger Woods, Tom Watson, Ian Baker-Finch and Anders Forsbrand.
• Morikawa’s victory comes in just his 27th professional start, becoming the third fastest player in history to win a major. Tiger Woods achieved it on his 17th start, while Jerry Pate achieved it on his 18th.
• In addition to a two shot triumph, Morikawa led the tournament in driving accuracy, proximity to the hole and strokes gained putting.
• Morikawa now adds his name to the elite list that comprises of Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods as he becomes just the fourth player in history to win a US PGA Championship at the age of 23.
