Club Car and The European Tour set route map for The 2014 Ryder Cup

Club Car and The European Tour have extended their long-standing relationship until the end of 2014, which will see Club Car golf and utility vehicles continue to play an important role at all European Tour events and The Ryder Cup.

Club Car announce new agreement with the Tour and Ryder Cup

As part of the agreement, at least 70 Club Car Golf Cars will continue to be used at each European Tour event by rules officials, television production teams, promoters and staging staff.

The vehicles are currently transported in enormous, custom-built trucks that travel the equivalent distance of more than once around the world every year, attending 26 tournaments.

Club Car, the world’s largest manufacturer of four-wheel electric vehicles, will also be the Official Supplier of Golf Cars and Golf Utility Vehicles to The 2014 Ryder Cup between Europe and the United States at Gleneagles in Scotland, where it will provide 300 vehicles essential in the operation and smooth running of golf’s most prestigious team event.

George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, said: “We are delighted to extend our long term partnership with Club Car through until the end of 2014. This relationship will continue to prove vital to the operational success of each European Tour event, including The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, and we look forward to working with Club Car for many more years to come.”

The agreement extends Club Car’s long-term relationship with The European Tour and The Ryder Cup, a strong association which began in 1999.

Marc Dufour, President and CEO, Club Car, said: “Every week our vehicles form part of the logistical backbone of The European Tour, and to have a role to play in every tournament and The Ryder Cup, as we did at Celtic Manor in 2010, gives us great pride. We are honoured to continue this relationship.”
