Clarke receives July Golfer of Month trophy

Open Champion Darren Clarke was presented with his European Tour Golfer of the Month Award for July by European Tour Chief Executive George O’Grady after his second round in the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre.

The 42 year old, who finished three shots clear of American duo Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson to win the Claret Jug at Royal St George’s, received an engraved alms dish and a jeroboam of Moët & Chandon champagne in honour of his achievement.

It was the first time the Northern Irishman had won the monthly award since 2003, following his triumph at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
