SSP Chawrasia extended his lead to two shots in the early stages of the final round of the UBS Hong Kong Open.
The Indian hit the top of the leaderboard amidst difficult windy conditions on Thursday morning and has been there ever since as he seeks to start the 2018 Race to Dubai with a first European Tour title away from home soil.
He made two birdies in his first three holes in round four at Hong Kong Golf Club to move to 12 under, two clear of Alexander Björk and Australian Wade Ormsby.
Belgian Thomas Detry was then at nine under, a shot ahead of four-time winner of this event Miguel Ángel Jiménez, who set the clubhouse target with a sparkling 63.
Björk put an impressive tee-shot into the second to get within one but he was not that close for long as Chawrasia holed a 12-foot left-to-righter on the same hole.
The Swede then made the most of the par five third to move into second on his own with playing partner Detry repeating the trick to get to nine under.
Jiménez then finished off his stunning round to set the target as he delighted the crowds in Hong Kong yet again.
The 53 year old became the oldest winner in European Tour history here in the first staging of the 2014 season - a record he a would break again in that campaign - and he continued to roll back the years.
The 21-time winner birdied the second, fourth, fifth, sixth, tenth, 16th and 17th.
Ormsby was the next man to capitalise on the third while playing partner Tommy Fleetwood did brilliantly to save par after taking a drop off the tee.
Rafa Cabrera Bello also got in trouble off the third tee to surrender a bogey but Chawrasia got to the green side in two to re-establish his two-shot cushion.
The Spaniard was eight under alongside Jiménez, reigning Race to Dubai champion Fleetwood and American trio Paul Peterson, Micah Lauren Shin and Julian Suri.
