It would take a king’s ransom to play with one of the world’s top golfers, Ryder Cup hero Graeme McDowell, in The European Tour’s flagship event; stay and dine in the UK’s leading hotels and restaurants and savour the glorious experience of watching the BMW PGA Championship 2013 at Wentworth Club.
Well, that’s precisely what happened today on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Radio2 as one of the most stunning golf packages put together was auctioned for a staggering £126,500 for the BBC’s Children In Need Appeal.
Evans, a confirmed golf ‘nut’ assembled the seven-star package in association with a number of his golfing friends and acquaintances to offer the chance for two extremely lucky winners to indulge themselves during the week of the BMW PGA Championship from Monday, May 20 to Sunday, May 26 next year.
And ‘The Super Swing Golf Package’- incorporating the chance to play in the BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am with 2010 US Open Champion McDowell and Evans himself on Wednesday, May 22 went up for auction during Evans’ show this morning - with the final total reaching that incredible six figure sum.
Chris Evans commented: “We could not have asked for a better package and a better result of which every penny will go to Children In Need.”
