Challenge Series gets up and running

The first programme of the ‘Challenge Series’, which follows the fortunes of the future stars competing on the 2011 Challenge Tour Schedule, will be screened on Sky Sports on Thursday June 30.

The first episode features an introduction by Germany’s Martin Kaymer who, having become the first Challenge Tour graduate to ascend to the coveted position of World Number One earlier this year, is a living embodiment of the benefits of a grounding on the Tour.

The programme also includes an interview with exciting young English prospect Tommy Fleetwood, who is hoping to follow in Kaymer’s spikemarks by graduating to The European Tour in his first full season on the Challenge Tour.

In addition, there is all the action from the first three events of the season in India, Colombia and, finally, Kenya, where another bright young thing, Norwegian Espen Kofstad, gets up close and personal with some of the local wildlife.

Programme One of the Challenge Series will be screened on Thursday June 30 at the following times and channels:

Sky Sports 3 00:00-00:30
Sky Sports 3 07:30-08:00
Sky Sports 1 14:00-14:30

Coverage from more than 20 events will be broadcast throughout the course of the year, culminating in the season-ending Apulia San Domenico Grand Final from November 2-5.
