The fourth edition of the Challenge de Cádiz takes place at Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri in Cádiz, Spain, from June 6-9 and here is what you need to know before play begins on Thursday...
Memorable moments
The Challenge de Cádiz has produced some memorable moments since its first edition in 2020, which saw Spaniard Pep Angles triumph on home soil to seal his maiden Challenge Tour victory. He went on to finish third on the Road to Mallorca Rankings that season to earn graduation to the DP World Tour, however he has since dropped back down to the Challenge Tour and will tee it up in Cádiz again this week as he bids to make a return to golf’s Global Tour.
In 2021, Belgian Kristof Ulenaers shocked the golfing world by securing a remarkable five-stroke wire-to-wire victory on his professional debut in Cádiz. Last season Englishman Sam Hutsby came out on top in a dramatic six-man play-off to secure his first Challenge Tour title for over eight years.

Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri was the first course in Spain to be designed by the great Severiano Ballesteros. The picturesque course is located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, on the beautiful beach of La Barrosa in Cadiz and has become one of the best-known golf resorts in Spain.
The front nine of Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri’s “A” course is designed on open, exposed land along the Mediterranean coastline and the picturesque par four sixth hole requires players to hit into a raised green overlooking the beach. The back nine is played inland and provides a greater challenge as players must navigate their way through tight avenues of pine trees. The 17th hole, at 463 yards, is the longest and toughest par four on the scorecard and players must think strategically off the tee due to a giant tree positioned in the centre of the fairway.
Elite practice facilities
Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club boasts some of the best practice facilities in the south of Spain with a 270-metre long grass driving range that has been extended to provide more than 130 spaces and 27 are equipped with sheltered facilities. The golfers’ paradise contains three practice holes, short game practice areas including a bunker, four practice greens and a par three course, providing players with everything they need to develop every aspect of their game.
