Everything you need to know from day two at The Celtic Manor Resort.

Guerrier opened up a two-shot lead and Veerman put on a show on the second day of the 2022 Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale.

Here is everything you need to know from day two at The Celtic Manor Resort.

Guerrier pulls clear at the top

France's Julien Guerrier set a target which could not be caught on Friday, posting his 68 in the morning to move to seven under par. He made five birdies and two bogeys as well as producing some spectacular par saves as the Twenty Ten Course at The Celtic Manor Resort provided a stern test once again. His total proved unreachable for the afternoon starters, with only two players able to get within two shots of him on five under.

Veerman's unbelievable eagle

Johannes Veerman had a day to remember on Friday, sinking an enormous putt on the first hole for a birdie before judging his tricky third shot to perfection at the ninth and rolling in the birdie putt. But he saved his best until last, holing out for an eagle on the 18th from the fairway. His approach shot took one bounce on the green before jumping into the cup to lift Veerman into a share of second spot on five under. He said: "I flushed it, there was one bounce and it disappeared and the pin was on the back so I thought it went long over the green into the swale and I thought, 'no you did not go long', but then I heard some cheering at the back!"

Howell safely through to the weekend on 700th start

David Howell, who became the newest member of the DP World Tour's 700 club this week, marked the occasion by comfortably making the cut thanks to a level-par 71 on day two. He'll be hoping to make a big move on Saturday.

Shinkwin's superb birdie run

After making four birdies and three bogeys in his first 13 holes, Callum Shinkwin put together a run of three birdies in four holes from the sixth, and all three were absolute beauties. He started the run by muscling one out of a bunker at the sixth and holing the 39-foot putt that followed, before sending his tee-shot at the seventh to inside five feet to set up another birdie. Having nearly holed his approach into the ninth for an eagle, he knocked in the return putt from 15 feet. Even though he bogeyed the last, Shinkwin heads into the weekend in great shape on five under, just two behind Guerrier.

Porteous in contention

After missing 12 cuts in succession on the DP World Tour, Haydn Porteous has made it through to the weekend here and is in a fantastic position after two rounds. He carded a second consecutive 70 on day two to get to two under par.
