Casey heads morning Pro-Am at Wentworth

Paul Casey has got his week off to the perfect start after a Wednesday morning Pro-Am romp round Wentworth’s West Course.

The Englishman, who has tasted success here before in the form of a dominant World Match Play triumph back in 2006, marshalled his BMW team mates Anthony Robson, Simon Beard and Adam Beattie to an impressive net total of 23 under par.

Three time 2012 victor Branden Grace had looked like taking the spoils for much of the morning’s play, but a back nine spurt from the eventual winners was enough to dash the hopes of both the South African and his team comprising of horse racing’s AP McCoy, Mick Fitzgerald and Carl Llewellyn, who eventually finished three shots back.

England’s Tom Lewis led his team to third with a score of 14 under par, while the team of World Number One Rory McIlroy finished in a tie for fourth some two shots further back alongside that of Michael Campbell and Darren Clarke.
