Casey and Johnson lead as final group start back nine

Paul Casey and Dustin Johnson sat at the top of an extremely bunched leaderboard as the final group reached the turn on day four of the 2020 US PGA Championship.

The top 12 names on the leaderboard were separated by just two shots on Sunday afternoon as the co-leaders faced some seriously stiff competition.

Casey began the day two shots behind third round leader Johnson but closed the gap courtesy of back to back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes.

The Englishman, who is looking to win his first Major Championship title at the 64th attempt, safely parred his way to the turn before notching his third birdie of the day on the long tenth to join Johnson on ten under par.

Collin Morikawa, Jason Day, Tony Finau and Scottie Scheffler were one shot further back in a tie for second while halfway leader Li Haotong was among the large group on eight under par.

Casey made a patient start to his fourth round, producing a solid par save at the first before picking up his first shot of the day from nine feet at the fourth.

The Englishman followed that up with another birdie on the fifth but it was nearly even better, as his approach shot from the right side of the fairway almost found the cup for an eagle.

After keeping his card clean with a good up-and-down from the rough on the short eighth, Casey holed his seven foot birdie putt at the par five tenth to move to ten under.

Johnson, playing in the final group, opened his round with a birdie to get to double digits under par but gave a shot back on the short third.

The 2016 U.S. Open Championship winner bounced back with a birdie from 12 feet on the par five fourth to return to ten under.

Johnson then produced some good par saves to remain in front until Casey joined him at the summit.
