Jorge Campillo has been voted Hilton Golfer of the Month for April after capturing his maiden European Tour title at the Trophée Hassan II – a landmark victory that came on his 228th start.
The 32-year-old Spaniard received an incredible 66 per cent of the public vote ahead of Francesco Molinari in second place.
Battling difficult conditions across one of the toughest courses on Tour, Campillo recorded rounds of 72-71-69-71 on the tricky Royal Golf Dar Es Salam layout for a two-shot victory, having previously recorded six runner-up finishes on Tour since 2009.
Italian Molinari, received 25 per cent of the vote after a third-place finish at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, and another strong week in the Masters Tournament, where he lead after 54 holes before eventually finishing in a tie for fifth.
Xander Schauffele came in third place after a brilliant performance at the Masters Tournament. The 25-year-old finished tied second in Georgia, just one shot behind eventual champion Tiger Woods.
It was a remarkable turnaround from Schauffele after a first round 73, and the American now has three consecutive top six finishes in Major Championships.
Tony Finau rounded off the monthly competition in fourth place. After a steady start at Augusta National, Finau shot a bogey-free third round of 64 to make it into the last group on Sunday. Despite a back nine charge on the final day he ultimately settled for a share of fifth place, his highest finish at the Masters.
