Cable Guy: Olesen's Lucky Break

It’s not often in golf that you can hit a terrible shot and the rules save you. But that is exactly what happened to Thorbjorn Olesen in his second round in Denmark.

The 25 year old hit a wayward tee shot on the fourth hole and immediately asked his caddie for a provisional ball. However, his original ball had clipped a power cable on its way into the deep rough. Thus, Olesen was saved.

Local rule A8 is in play this week which states “If a ball strikes an elevated power line, the stroke is cancelled and MUST be replayed.”

Therefore, Olesen was able to hit another tee shot, find the middle of the fairway and make a par.
