Bumper Weekly Fantasy Prize on offer at Wentworth

Last year the now World Number Two really got his summer of success going with a titanic back nine battle against Lee Westwood, fighting it out not only for top honours in the event, but for global top dog too.

With that in mind we recommend that both are in your fantasy team this week, as well as England’s Justin Rose, who has played some sparkling golf this season and was in top form early last week before coming up against a dominant Nicolas Colsaerts. He has also fared well here in the past, losing in a play-off in 2007 to two-time champ Anders Hansen, and he will hope to add to the WGC-Cadillac Championship that he won earlier this year.

It is not just home players that we expect to lead the way this week, though, as there are a whole host of both continental and global talents on show this week.

First up, Francesco Molinari has played as well as most from tee to green in 2012, and having picked up a deserved first win of the year at the Reale Seguros Open de España he should head to Wentworth full of confidence. His long game is imperious, and with the West Course’s tight winding fairways and subtly undulating greens requiring pin point play from the fairway, if this Italian can get his putting boots on he could be hard to beat.

The aforementioned two-time champion, Denmark’s Anders Hansen, is also another European well worth a look this week. He has had a steady start to the season so far, with a best of 12th in Qatar in only his second start, and as he returns to the scene of two of his three victories on The European Tour (2002 and 2007), he will feel confident of another strong showing and a potential Wentworth triple.

And finally we’ve got West Course specialist Ernie Els who, having lived on the estate for many years and been a major part of the recent redesign, has won the World Match Play here a record seven times. He is yet to claim a BMW PGA Championship crown, but has come as close as is possible, finishing runner up here in 1994, 1997 and 1998. He has talked up his chances this week already, and having lost in play- offs both sides of the pond, he could be a serious contender for this year’s championship.
