Broberg's purple patch continues in Norway

Kristoffer Broberg was on track for a second title in as many weeks as he led the field by two shots at the Norwegian Challenge early on in a rain-delayed second day.

The Swede claimed a surprise maiden victory at the Finnish Challenge last week in just his second appearance on the European Challenge Tour, winning by an impressive six shots.

The 26 year old’s purple patch continued as he came storming out the blocks in the second round at Byneset GK, near Trondheim, where the start of play was delayed by two hours after heavy overnight rain.

Having carded a bogey-free, five under par opening round of 67, Broberg opened with a birdie at the par five first hole before gaining another shot at the third.

Three consecutive birdies from the sixth holes then meant he steamed into the lead on fine under for the day through 11 holes and ten under par for the tournament, two shots clear of Chile’s Mark Tullo, England’s former Ryder Cup player Oliver Wilson and Spain's Adrian Otaegui.

Overnight leader Alvaro Velasco was yet to tee off, as was local favourite Elias Bertheussen.
