Tyrrell Hatton will take a three-shot lead into the weekend at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports at 12 under.
Here, we take a look at what some of the chasing pack had to say after their second rounds.
Lee Westwood (65, -9)
"Solid again. I obviously made a couple more putts than yesterday, hence five under as opposed to four yesterday. I didn't really make too many mistakes, just hit exactly where I wanted to most of the day. I'm in a good position. Obviously would have liked to have picked up a couple more shots coming in there but didn't birdie the par five up the hill and missed a couple of other chances. Yeah, nine under is a good spot and I'll have a lie-in tomorrow morning. I haven't made a bogey yet this week, made nine birdies as well. Hit it pretty much where I wanted to all two days and I like my position going into the weekend. I guess it's nice for the host to be in contention. It's an honour. I think it shows that I've had a good career and I'm respected by the players. To get a great field like we did was a bit of a pat on the back as well and I think it's a good initiative. I like it when an established player hosts a tournament. I think it brings a bit more to that tournament."
Ian Poulter (65, -9)
"The back nine, my front nine, I had four birdies on the spin. Nice to have a little run like that. A couple of missed greens once I made the turn but I made a couple of decent up-and-downs. Sloppy bogey, really, on seven - just hit hybrid off the tee, pulled it left, missed fairway and it was awkward from there being blocked out. But decent bounceback birdie there. I'm playing well. It's nice to come over and play well, it's nice to be in contention. Will be hopefully a nice weekend, hopefully we get some decent weather. This morning was pretty miserable, I have to say. Brolly up and down all morning and we got quite wet out there at times. I'm hitting the ball pretty solid so I'm going to give myself decent chances if I continue to have looks from inside 15 feet. I feel like I'm hitting it how I want to hit it. Putting it in play a lot, giving myself plenty of chances and when that happens, hopefully you get a few putts to drop and it adds up to a decent score."
Robert Karlsson (65, -9)
"Very happy with that. It was not so easy. The rain came and went a bit, there was a couple of really, really heavy showers and happy with that round. Good. Putting, unbelievable. I've not done three really long ones in a row so it's fun. Obviously I had some chances as well. It was a good round all in all but obviously nice to knock in a few long ones. It's great to be up on the leaderboard and see your name up there. That's why we play, so it's good fun."
Ashley Chesters (66, -9)
"It was pretty good. Well, I started off okay and then got quite hot in the middle and just sort of hit a couple of iffy shots towards the end. Overall, it was pretty good. I hit decent shots in. I got a bit lucky on the fourth but I holed a couple of nice birdie putts. Got lucky with a couple iron shots which led to two of my birdies, one on 14 and one on four. I got quite nice bounces, which you take it when you get them, but I holed the putt as well, so you've got to take advantage when you do get a bit of luck because you don't get it very often."
Rory McIlroy (69, -4)
"It was okay. It was a little bit of a struggle. I think we got the better of the conditions, we didn't have to contend with the rain like the guys did in the morning but the wind got up in the morning, which made it a bit trickier. There was chances out there, I just didn't get off to a great start. I played okay on the way in but I obviously need to go a bit lower on the weekend to have a chance. I feel like I'm hitting decent putts - I'm not reading them right at all. I hit a couple of weak ones out there as well. Keep giving myself chances and hopefully a few putts drop."
