BMW PGA Championship and Ross Fisher support The Children's Trust

The Children’s Trust has been appointed the Official Charity of the 2012 BMW PGA Championship by the Tour Players’ Foundation, the charitable arm of The European Tour, and title sponsor BMW, with a number of fundraising activities taking place before and during the Tour’s Flagship event.

To launch the fundraising initiative, Ryder Cup star Ross Fisher is offering a once in a lifetime chance to caddie for him over Wentworth Club’s famous West Course in the Official Tournament Pro-Am on Wednesday May 23 through a ‘Text to Win’ Competition that will raise vital funds for The Children’s Trust.

The Children’s Trust, Tadworth is a national charity that provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury.   Its residential rehabilitation centre for paediatric acquired brain injury in Tadworth, Surrey is the largest centre of its type in the UK.

By entering the ‘Text to Win’ competition you will make a donation to The Children’s Trust and you will be automatically entered into a draw with the chance to be part of a truly unique experience, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Ross Fisher as his caddie for the day.

Watch and learn how Ross selects and plays golf shots you would normally only see on television, or only dream of hitting yourself.  Ross' professional caddie will also be on hand to give you an in-depth understanding of what it takes to be a European Tour Caddie, by hosting you during your ‘Inside the Ropes’ experience.

Fisher, a four time European Tour winner, admitted he was delighted to show his support for such a deserving charity.

“When I see the devastating injuries and illnesses afflicting so many young children and their families, it hits home just how fortunate I am to be playing professional golf for a living,” he said.

“I am delighted that The Children’s Trust is the Official Charity of the BMW PGA Championship this year and even happier to play an active role through the Caddie Experience competition.

“It is a charity very close to my heart, and I am glad to be involved at Wentworth in May. I really hope that the winner of the competition will have a top class experience with my caddie, Adam, and me ‘Inside the Ropes’, where you can see the action at close quarters.

“I can guarantee that the competition winner will have a great time and he or she can get the inside knowledge about how I prepare for a tournament as important as the BMW PGA Championship and how Adam goes about his preparation before a round.

“The winner can carry my professional golf bag – no easy task! – and we will discuss yardages, where to stand, what to do and make sure the clubs are all cleaned and so on. We are there to make the experience as enjoyable as possible and to give the best possible insight into the preparation which goes into the job.

“At the end of the day, the aim is to raise as much money as possible for The Children’s Trust, so I hope we get as many people as possible texting to win as the proceeds go straight to the Charity.”

As part of your experience, you will be given a Tour Players’ Foundation - Caddie Goodie Bag which will include a bespoke Souvenir Caddie Bib, Course and a Range Access Passes for Wednesday May 23 only, an Official Tournament Pro/Caddie Yardage Book and European Tour and Tour Players’ Foundation Merchandise including a European Tour Memory Stick with images of you and Ross on the course.

You will also receive two Season Passes for you and a friend to return to Wentworth Club as a spectator for the rest of BMW PGA Championship.

In addition to the donations from the ‘Text to Win’ Competition, a number of still to be announced fundraising initiatives will take place during the tournament week in support of The Children’s Trust to enable them to help more children and their families across the UK who desperately need the unique services and care that only The Children’s Trust can provide.
