Sweden’s Jonas Blixt capped an impressive rookie season on the US PGA Tour with his first victory at the Frys.com Open.
The 28 year old birdied the 15th and 17th to card a three under par 68 and 16 under total to pip Americans Tim Petrovic and Jason Kokrak to the title by a single shot.
Fijian Vijay Singh was in a tie for fourth on 14 under, while there were top 20 finishes for Open Champion Ernie Els and New Zealander Danny Lee.
Blixt started the final round one behind John Mallinger, but as the American struggled to a one over 72 the main threats looked to be Petrovic and Jimmy Walker.
Walker took the clubhouse lead on 14 under after a stunning 62, only for Petrovic to birdie three of the last five holes to go one better after a 64.
One behind with five to play at that stage, Blixt ended a run of five straight pars with a four at the long 15th, and a 3-3-4 finish secured a maiden professional win.
