After a very even start, Bjerregaard stamped his authority on proceedings after making birdies at the sixth and seventh to lead by two holes at the turn.

Bjerregaard found himself three holes to the good after draining his eight foot putt at the tenth but his opponent Stenson pegged him back with a fine birdie on the 12th.

The Dane did not let that setback affect him, though, winning the 13th and 14th to go 4up with four holes to play.

Stenson put Bjerregaard's celebrations on hold when the Swede won the 15th but the 27-year-old closed out an impressive victory at the next.

It will be fun and I'm looking forward to it - Lucas Bjerregaard

"It was a really tough match today," said Bjerregaard. "Henrik didn't give much away. We all know he's one of the best ball strikers out there and he definitely showed that today.

"I made a couple of mistakes in the last couple of holes but other than that, we didn't really do much wrong. I putted really well today and that was the difference.

"It (the quarter-final) will be fun and I'm looking forward to it."

Italian Molinari did not have things all his own way on Saturday morning, falling behind when Englishman Casey rolled in his eight foot birdie putt at the first.

But he bounced back with wins at the second, third and eighth holes to lead by two at the turn.

And the 2018 Race to Dubai Champion continued to turn the screw on the back nine, reeling off a hat-trick of wins at the 12th, 13th and 14th to make it through to the afternoon.

Molinari said: "I played well again, like the other days. I was very good at keeping my head down and just working, keep trying to make birdies.

"The strategy was, even when I was 3up, just keep going. I played the 13th aggressively, going for the green. Just keep trying to make birdies and win a couple of holes."

Sergio Garcia

Grace led from the very first hole against Garcia but the Spaniard won the eighth and ninth to head into the back nine all square.

The lead continued to change hands as the match wore on and there was just one hole in it by the time they reached the 18th.

After Grace had missed his birdie putt from around six feet, Garcia coolly slotted in his four foot par effort to win the match.
