Billy Horschel: What's In The Bag?

There are few international players with such a strong fan base in England than Billy Horschel. The man from the United States is now a two-time BMW PGA Championship winner, so let’s take a look through his tools of the trade.

As a Titleist ambassador, Horschel, who beat Rory McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence in a dramatic three-man play-off on Sunday, predominantly uses the brand’s clubs with the only exception being a Ping putter.

Since his runner-up finish in The Open Championship at Royal Troon in July, the 37-year-old has enjoyed a consistent run of form, including two subsequent top tens on the PGA TOUR prior to claiming his second Rolex Series victory at Wentworth Club.

His bag at the BMW PGA Championship was the same as at The Open except that for this event he had a five wood instead of a Titleist T200 (2) utility iron for the Ayrshire links.

That decision followed a trend among many of those in action to swap out longer irons and utility irons, commonly associated with links conditions, for fairway woods.

Starting at the top of the bag, Horschel uses a Titleist GT3 driver with nine degrees of loft, with his three and five woods being from the Titleist TSi2 range.

When it comes to his irons, he uses the Titleist T100 set for his three and five iron – opting not to carry a four iron – while from Titleist 620 MB set for his six to nine iron.

Like many other players on the DP World Tour, including recent winners Matt Wallace and Niklas Nørgaard, he has the Titleist Vokey SM10's for his wedges, with 46, 52 and 56 degrees of loft and the SM10-WW Proto with 60 degrees of loft.

Horschel completes his bag with a Ping Sigma 2 Tyne 4 putter, which proved pivotal in his victory as he ranked top in the Strokes Gained: Putting category among the players to make the cut.

He uses a 2023 Titleist Pro V1 X (+) ball.

The clubs he used for his play-off victory are in full below:

  • Driver: Titleist GT3 (9 degrees)
  • Three Wood: Titleist TSi2 (15 degrees)
  • Five Wood: Titleist TSi2 (18 degrees)
  • Three & 5 Iron: Titleist T100 (23), No 4 Iron
  • Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM10 (46 degrees, 52, 56), Titleist SM10-WW Proto (60 degrees)
  • Putter: Ping Sigma 2 Tyne 4
