Big finish sends Antoine Rozner flying at Wentworth

Antoine Rozner birdied his final five holes to catapult himself up the leaderboard and right into contention heading into the weekend at the BMW PGA Championship.

The Frenchman was one under for his round and four under for the week at the turn in round two before making a two-putt birdie on the par-five 12th.

He parred the next before a tee-shot to 15 feet on the 14th kickstarted the big finish that saw him to a 65 and a ten under par total.

Rozner has missed just five of 19 cuts this season but also recorded just three top tens and was glad to find his best form in the Rolex Series.

"I'm very happy," he said. "To be very honest with you I've been struggling a little bit with my game, so to shoot this type of round today was very good. I'm very happy.

"I holed some very good putts on the last few and I hit the ball very solid. Never really put myself in trouble out there. Super happy."

Rozner followed his excellent birdie on the 14th with a putt from similar length on the next and an approach to inside six feet on the 16th.

And despite a storm delay of over an hour as he played the closing holes, he took two putts from just off the green on the 17th and got up and down from over the back of the 18th to birdie the final two par fives and match his lowest score to par in a Rolex Series event, recorded at Wentworth Club in 2021.

"The margins are so small now," he said. "It's just like attention to details. Don't take any stupid risks. It's more like strategy.

"But if I pay really good attention to all those details, I think I'm still able to shoot some scores like this. Just got to keep going.

"You can't really miss on some places out there. So I was being very careful. We've done a great job with my caddie and I made some good putts. So it's always a big help out here."
