Wil Besseling came second to Kristoffer Broberg at the Finnish Challenge in 2012, and he heads back to Kytäjä Golf looking to go one better this year.
This was one of three top ten finishes that the Dutchman posted last season en route to a 31st place finish in the Challenge Tour Rankings, a position that he hopes to improve upon this year as he competes for a top 15 spot and a place on The European Tour.
Besseling came even closer to a maiden title in Belgium earlier this year, losing in a play-off to Australia's Daniel Gaunt at the Telenet Trophy, and has since struggled for his best form.
However his game is starting to feel sharp, and ahead of venturing back to a venue he has performed so well on next week, he is hopeful of a strong display on Scandinavian soil once again.
"I really like the venue, and I had a great time here last year, so hopefully it will be more of the same," said Besseling. "That was the first time I had played in Finland, so I'm looking forward to the week, some good weather hopefully, and we'll see if I can do just as good again.
"The Telenet is the highlight of the year so far, as I've been playing alright, but just not scoring well at times. I haven't had any really good finishes since Belgium, but there are plenty more events this season, and hopefully I can play well and get my European Tour card. That's my main goal.
"Results like that definitely show things are going in the right direction, but on the CT you need really good results - to finish in the top three, or five - to move up the rankings. That's what I did at the Telenet, and hopefully I can do that more for the rest of the season. Top 20s are solid playing, but it doesn't get you anywhere, so I need some more strong finishes.
"I have not been struggling on the greens, I've just not holed enough putts, and the last few weeks I have given myself a lot of chances without quite pulling it off. Hopefully I can keep giving myself those chances though, and if I hole a few more putts then I'll be fine."
Besseling will be teeing it up alongside a plethora of Challenge Tour champions from the season so far, including the likes of Bad Griesbach Challenge Tour by Hartl Resort winner Andrea Pavan. The Italian is second on the Rankings, the same position he achieved in 2011 en route to a European Tour card, and he will be looking to replicate that again in order to have another go at the big time next year.
Victor Riu is one position below Pavan in the season long list, thanks in part to some very solid displays, which culminated in a maiden professional triumph at the Swiss Challenge just a few weeks ago, and he will travel to Finland looking for more of the same.
While Antti Ahokas, who won twice on the Challenge Tour in 2008, will form part of the home contingent in his native Finland.
