Oliver Bekker continued his fine start to life on the DP World Tour as he fired his third sub-64 round in four events on day two of the 2022 Steyn City Championship.
The South African made his DP World Tour debut in 2008 but is playing with full privileges for the first time after graduating from the European Challenge Tour in 2021.
He missed the cut in his Rolex Series debut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship but then recorded three consecutive top tens before finishing in a tie for 11th last week.
He fired a career-low 62 at the Ras Al Khaimah Classic and followed that with a 63 at the Magical Kenya Open presented by Absa.
Another 63 on day two at The Club at Steyn City moved him to 12 under to put him right in the mix again, and the seven-time Sunshine Tour winner was happy to maintain momentum.
"If you go bogey-free it's always a good day and to make a few birdies and an eagle, that makes it a really good day," he said.
"I've been hitting it alright. Yesterday I struggled a little bit with the short game, didn't really score that well. Today I made a few better putts and used my opportunities well so that was nice.
"It was nice to get off to a good start in Ras Al Khaimah, the two weeks there, just to kind of prove to yourself that you belong, that you can compete.
"I've been fortunate enough to keep the run going and I'm just taking every day as it comes.
"There's a lot of birdies to be made so I'm just going to go out there and play aggressive golf the rest of the week."
