Form horse: Rhys Enoch
Rhys Enoch arrives in Cape Town fresh from the SDC Open where he returned to the winner’s circle for the first time on the Challenge Tour since 2019. The Welshman, who finished in a share of 22nd at Qualifying School last year to earn playing status on the DP World Tour, birdied the last at Zebula to win by two strokes to start his season in style. He’s also had success in the city before having won the Cape Town Open on the Sunshine Tour in 2018.
Local boy: Martin Vorster
Martin Vorster recorded his best Challenge Tour result to date in this very event last year. Rounds of 70-69-67-69 saw him finish in a share of fourth place on 13 under par, just two strokes behind eventual winner Benjamin Follett-Smith. The 22-year-old was well-placed going into the final round of the SDC Open last week too, and despite enduring a difficult final day, will be hoping to continue a promising start to the Road to Mallorca season when he tees it up this week.
The outsider: George Bloor
Being ‘the outsider’ might be doing George Bloor a disservice as he began the season in red-hot form in the SDC Open just last week. In his first event of the year, and in his first Challenge Tour start since 2022, the Englishman posted rounds of 69-67-65-68 to finish in a tie for fifth at Zebula. The 28-year-old graduated from the Clutch Pro Tour last year having topped their Order of Merit thanks to seven top tens in just 17 starts.
