Atwal pursuing Love and Furyk

A one under par 69 kept Arjun Atwal in contention for the McGladrey Classic at Sea Island in Georgia.

The Indian, fighting to climb the money list in order to keep his US PGA Tour card, led at the halfway stage but was surpassed in round three by US Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III and former US Open Champion Jim Furyk.

The both shot rounds of 66 to lead on 13 under, with Atwal and D.J. Trahan two further back.

Three-time European Tour winner Atwal dropped a shot at the fourth but fought back with birdies at the fifth and ninth.

The back nine also started badly with bogeys at the tenth and 14th, but late gains at the 15th and 16th kept him in the hunt.

South African Garth Mulroy had a four under par 66 to improve to six under, along with New Zealander Danny Lee, Swede Henrik Stenson and England’s Greg Owen.
