Atlantis, The Palm renews sponsorship

The top 60 golfers on The European Tour will enjoy a luxurious end to the 2012 campaign with the announcement that Atlantis, The Palm is once again the Official Hotel of the US $8million DP World Tour Championship, Dubai – the final event of the season-long Race to Dubai.

To be staged on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates from 22-25 November, the event has enjoyed a successful partnership with Atlantis, The Palm – the iconic destination resort situated on Dubai’s Palm Island – since joining The European Tour International Schedule in 2009.

“Atlantis, The Palm is extremely proud to be the Official Hotel of The DP World Tour Championship for the fourth year in succession,” said Serge Zaalof, President and Managing Director Atlantis, The Palm.

“The tournament is a prestigious international event, drawing in the biggest names in golf for the culmination of The Race to Dubai. We are happy to welcome the players with their families to the Atlantis, where they can relax and enjoy their downtime among our many attractions.”

As the Official Hotel, Atlantis will host the players and their families, while working closely together with The European Tour to raise awareness of the tournament and implement additional activities supporting golf in the UAE.

In addition, the resort will implement a number of its own initiatives in the build-up to the event in November, including golf packages, fun activities for kids and adults, plus unique competitions and raffles.

After 46 events in 25 destinations across five continents, only the top 60 players in The Race to Dubai will qualify to compete for a share of the US$8million prize purse at the DP World Tour Championship.

And for leading lights such as current Race to Dubai leader Rory McIlroy and the 2011 European Number One in 2011 Luke Donald, there is also the prospect of a slice of the US$3.75 million Bonus Pool on offer to the top ten players in The Race to Dubai.

“With a world-class field and the DP World Tour Championship offering such a significant prize fund, the tournament is highly regarded by all the players on The European Tour,” said Nick Tarratt, the Director of European Tour International, Dubai Office.

“Atlantis, The Palm is a world-class resort which offers a unique and relaxing environment for the players to enjoy the final week of The European Tour season. It has been the event’s Official Hotel from the outset in 2009 and the feedback we receive from the players and their families is extremely positive, with many of them enjoying attractions such as Dolphin Bay, the Aquaventure waterpark and the Lost Chambers.”

Entrance to the DP World Tour Championship will be free of charge for the fourth year in a row, and spectators are requested to register for their free season tickets at the event’s official websitehere
