Asia in control

Asia were on course for a big lead going into the final day of The Royal Trophy as they took control of the fourballs on day two at Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok.

The Royal Trophy - Day One

Europe were already trailing 3-1 from the opening foursomes and with red on the board in three of the four second round matches it looked like Asia were well on course to secure their first victory in the competition’s history.

In a repeat of the opening match from day one – the only one to yield a point for Europe – Soren Hansen and Paul Lawrie were one up on Ryo Ishikawa and Toru Tanaguchi after eight.

That was the only good news for Jose Maria Olazabal though, with Liang Wen-chong and Charlie Wi four up on English duo Nick Dougherty and Oliver Wilson through seven.

Hideto Tanihara and SK Ho were one up on Sweden’s Niclas Fasth and Johan Edfors through the sixth while in the final match on the course Paul McGinley and Pablo Larrazabal were two down to Thai duo Prayad Marksaeng and Thongchai Jaidee, also after six holes.
