Adri Arnaus became the 197th former European Challenge Tour player to win on the DP World Tour after he secured his maiden title in dramatic fashion at the 2022 Catalunya Championship.
The 27-year-old defeated 2021 Challenge Tour graduate Oliver Bekker in a six-hole play-off at PGA Catalunya Golf and Wellness to move up to sixth on the DP World Tour Rankings in Partnership with Rolex. Bekker moves into 16th on the Rankings after an impressive start to the season, overtaking Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson, who claimed his first victory earlier this season at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
Arnaus’ last professional victory came four years ago at the 2018 Challenge Tour Grand Final. The Spaniard finished one stroke ahead of 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship winner Victor Perez to win the season finale at Al Hamra Golf Club and earn DP World Tour playing privileges after finishing second on the 2018 Challenge Tour Rankings behind Denmark’s JB Hansen.
The 27-year-old has gone from strength to strength since graduating from the Challenge Tour, recording five second place finishes on the DP World Tour, including two play-off defeats in the last seven months at the 2021 Acciona Open de España presented by Madrid and MyGolfLife Open hosted by Pecanwood, before finally securing his first win on home soil at the Catalunya Championship.
Arnaus secured the 523rd win by former Challenge Tour players on the DP World Tour, as the Tour continues to produce and nurture the next generation of golf's superstars.
