Arnaus enjoying home crowds as he seeks 'dream' win

Adri Arnaus is looking to make his dreams come true as he goes in search of a first European Tour win on home soil at the 2021 Acciona Open de España presented by Madrid.

The 26-year-old finished second three times in his rookie season in 2019 - including in Spain at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters - and he is once again enjoying having home support at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

He went out in the final group on day three alongside World Number One Jon Rahm, and will be out last again in the final round after a 67 left him just two shots behind leader Rafa Cabrera Bello.

With two Spaniards fighting for the title, Arnaus will once again have a huge number of the sell out crowd cheering him on, and he is hoping to be inspired as he looks for that first victory.

"I have been enjoying this week so much, the crowd has been on my side and today playing with Jon, it was pretty loud I have to say," he said.

"It was cool to perform over here in front of the crowd so very happy.

"It was great to see that I can go a bit deeper and it was a good confidence booster because I have been working on a few things outside the course, so for it to translate on the course it felt nice and today kind of worked as well.

"It would be really special and a dream come true. Growing up and playing Spanish events as an amateur, dreaming of being part of the bigger stuff, and here we are.

"So it is going to be a cool moment and I am looking forward to having my chance on that back nine."

Julien Guerrier will complete the final trio after a third round 66 playing alongside Cabrera Bello left him in a share for second with Arnaus at 15 under.

The Frenchman is battling to keep his playing privileges at 133rd on the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex, but he insists he has not done anything differently this week as he too looks for a first win.

"I’m very happy, very consistent," he said. "Five under first round, second round, third round, but today was very difficult off the tee for me with the driver, I was not very good but I had some opportunities to put the ball on the green which I did.

"The atmosphere was really good. I have known Rafa a long time and he played really good.

"I didn’t find anything. I try to work hard and do my best every week, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, so that is golf. I keep working and hope for some good results in the future.

"Try to enjoy first of all because that is the key, and then after that be patient."
