The inaugural NBO Oman Open was set for a dramatic finish with ten players within four shots of the lead heading into the back nine on Sunday.
Dutchman Joost Luiten had opened up a three-shot lead early in round four at Al Mouj Golf but back-to-back bogeys dropped him to 13 under where he shared the lead with Englishman Chris Wood.
The pair were just one shot clear of American Han Seung-su and England's Robert Rock, with Frenchman Julien Guerrier then at 11 under.
A bogey-bogey finish on Saturday dropped Wood out of the lead but a smart approach into the first quickly had him into a share of top spot.
He would not be there for long, though, as Matthew Southgate spun his approach to the second to tap-in range to get to 13 under.
Luiten then hit a perfect drive on the second and that allowed him to get close and make a birdie to join Southgate at the top of the leaderboard.
Southgate had birdied the par five third on all of the first three days but a three-putt led to a bogey on Sunday and Luiten was alone in the lead.
The 32 year old then stretched his advantage to two shots when he holed from the fringe on the third and an approach to tap-in range on the next meant he was three clear.
Southgate was fortunate not to find the water on the fifth but he could not make the most of his reprieve and surrendered a bogey after failing to get up and down.
Wood rolled in a 15-footer on the sixth to make himself Luiten's nearest challenger but playing partner Southgate made another bogey as his challenge looked to be faltering.
Luiten's first mistake of the day came on the par five seventh when he three-putted from off the green after laying up.
Another three-putt on the next led to another bogey and dropped Luiten into a share of the lead with Wood, and Guerrier was only one back despite making eight straight pars.
Han and Rock had started the day five shots off the lead but the playing partners were making a charge through the field and they soon found themselves just one off the lead.
Han had birdies on the fifth, sixth, tenth, 12th and 13th, while Rock had gains on the third, seventh, tenth, 12th and 13th.
Guerrier then went over the green on the ninth to drop to 11 under.
Spaniard Jorge Campillo was ten under through 13 holes with the help of a chip-in on the eighth and eagle on the 12th, with Frenchman Alexander Levy alongside him after two birdies and a bogey in his first 11 holes.
Southgate was then alongside Adrian Otaegui and Fabrizio Zanotti at nine under.
