Alex Noren relishing weekend at St Andrews

Alex Noren is looking forward to the weekend after Friday's battling 69 at Kingsbarns Golf Links put him in a strong position at the halfway point of the 2022 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The Swede carded five birdies and two bogeys in strong wind and heavy rain on day two in Scotland to sit alone in second on eight under par, two shots behind leader Richard Mansell.

With significantly less rain expected on Saturday, Noren is relishing the prospect of taking on the Old Course, St Andrews.

He said: "I love wind but I hate this rain.

"I like the Old Course, and it's going to be fun."

Noren highlighted the importance of not trying anything too adventurous in Friday's brutal conditions.

He added: "I played well. You've just got to trust that you can actually play golf because you can't feel your hands.

"You can't do anything. Keep the ball low, and even downwind, just keep it low. Don't try to be a hero."
