Al-Futtaim Automotive Group Pro-Am returns to Grand Final

As a curtain-raiser to the final event of the European Challenge Tour season, which is held from Wednesday November 5 to Saturday November 8, the Al-Futtaim Automotive Group Pro-Am certainly sets the scene for the big event where the leading 45 golfers, following the National Bank of Oman Golf Classic in Muscat just three days before, will battle it out to earn their playing cards for the 2015 European Tour season.

James Shippey, Club Manager, Al Badia Golf Club by InterContinental, said at the announcement:  “The Al-Futtaim Automotive Group Pro-Am is a very important day of the tournament week with sponsors and guests having the opportunity to play the course alongside the professionals the day before the tournament proper, this is unique to the game of golf. The engagement of the professionals with the amateurs is a key element to ensure the tournament is a success. We are looking forward to this special day. We thank Al-Futtaim Automotive Group for their continued support.”

The Al-Futtaim Automotive Group Pro-Am takes place on Tuesday November 4, with each team in the Pro-Am consisting of one Challenge Tour professional and three amateurs, who will receive full handicap allowance to a maximum of 18 for men and 24 for ladies.

There is an element of competition with each and every amateur hoping to impress their professional playing partner while enjoying a great day of golf in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The best net score of a team of four will count at each hole for the Team Competition.

There will be three overall team prizes as well as amateur rewards for Nearest the Pin at one of the par threes and a Longest Drive challenge.

The day after the Futtaim Automotive Group Pro-Am is concluded the professionals will get down to the serious business of competing for one of the most coveted titles on the Challenge Tour Schedule, the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final hosted by Al Badia Golf Club.

Not only is there a prize fund of €350,000 up for grabs, but the top 15 players on the Challenge Tour Rankings at the conclusion of play will receive cards to play on The European Tour next season.

Last year’s Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final hosted by Al Badia Golf Club was won by four shots by Shiv Kapur, who earned his European Tour card after leaping from 20th to third in the Rankings courtesy of the win.
