Akesson tops the Re-Rank

After a string of impressive performances in his debut campaign, Sweden’s Björn Åkesson has topped the Re-Rank of all players in Category 10 on this year’s Challenge Tour.

The 22 year old from Malmö, who won on the collegiate circuit during his time at Arizona State University in America, currently sits in 30th place in the Challenge Tour Rankings, thanks chiefly to his tied third finish at the recent Kärnten Golf Open presented by Mazda.

Åkesson has earned €22,413 from his ten appearances so far this season, just over €10,000 more than Englishman Jason Palmer, who sits in second place in the Re-Rank with winnings of €12,248 courtesy of two seventh place finishes at the Telenet Trophy and the ALLIANZ Challenge de France.

His compatriot James Heath is third with earnings of €12,002, with another Englishman, Matthew Cryer, taking fourth on €9,414. Italian Matteo Delopodio rounds out the top five, having won €6,209 so far this season.

Category 10 is made up of players who finished in the top five on the Orders of Merit of the Challenge Tour’s approved Satellite Tours in 2010.
