Aguilar one shot clear in Belgium

A birdie on the ninth hole handed Carlos Aguilar the outright lead in the final round of the Telenet Trophy as the last groups reached the turn at Ravenstein Royal Golf Club of Belgium.

The Spaniard then parred the tenth hole to remain four under par for the day and 11 under for the tournament, one shot clear of second and third round leader Marco Crespi and Portugal's José-Filipe Lima, and set up a tense finale at the sun-kissed venue in Tervuren, outside Brussels.

Aguilar raced straight out of the blocks with birdies on the opening two holes before a bogey on the third knocked him back to one under for the day. He recovered, however, and gained shots at the fifth and sixth before his three on the par four ninth.

Crespi was level par after starting with a bogey for the second day running before a birdie at the fifth hole kept him in touch with the leader on, while Lima was four under par through 13 holes.

Alexandre Kaleka was having a mixed day as he bogeyed the third and fourth holes before following that up with two successive birdies at the fifth and sixth and a bogey on the seventh paired with a birdie on the ninth left him level par through ten and nine under for the tournament.

Earlier, Eduardo De La Riva joined Nicolas Colsaerts in the record books at Ravenstein Royal Golf Club of Belgium as the Spaniard set a new course record of 64.

De La Riva’s round came courtesy of a one under par front nine of 34, before he began to rack up the birdies on the back nine, starting with one on the 10th before three in a row from the 12th and he finished in style with an eagle on the par four 18th to sign for a six under par back nine of 30.
