Adrian Meronk may be over 9,000 miles from Poland but he is enjoying some home comforts as he goes in search of a second DP World Tour title at the ISPS HANDA Australian Open.
The 29-year-old tied the course record and his lowest DP World Tour round with a 63 on day three in Melbourne and will head into the final day just one shot behind leader Adam Scott.
Meronk is staying with his girlfriend Malina's cousins just three minutes from Victoria Golf Club and is enjoying having a taste of home while he is on the road.
"We’ve had Polish food for dinner every night," he said. "It feels like home, to be honest. It’s always nice to be coming back to the house, talking Polish, hang out instead of coming to the hotel, meeting in the lobby, going to a restaurant. I enjoy it so much."
He certainly looked to be at home on Saturday as took ten shots fewer than his first round at Victoria Golf Club to get to ten under.
That opening 73 left him three over and it looked like he would be more likely to be fighting to make the cut than win the title, but after going 66-63 in rounds two and three, he is now looking forward to challenging on Sunday.
"I love it," he said. "You want to be in this position going especially into Sunday. I feel really good about my game. I got familiar with the course so I’m going to enjoy tomorrow.
"I know my game, I know if I play like I did today I can shoot really low scores. I’ll just focus on that and that’s all I can do. Hopefully it’ll be enough at the end of the day."
