acciona Open de España presented by Madrid - Day three digest

Everything you need to know from day three at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

Eddie Pepperell

Home hope Jon Rahm delighted the locals as he climbed to the top of the leaderboard but Min Woo Lee refused to let him out of his sight - and there's a crowded chasing pack behind them.

Here is everything you need to know from day three at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

Eddie on the right road

Eddie Pepperell has been finding a bit of form recently and is three off the lead after a 67 that included a run of four birdies in five holes on the front nine.

He said: "It (winning) would mean a lot, it would certainly probably annoy a lot of people here, but I'm just trying not to think too much about the results at the moment. I've kind of not been featuring as much as I feel like I should have been.

"I think that’s just because of the odd bad short-game shot or the odd silly error and so far this week they haven't quite occurred but it's interesting to see how that comes out tomorrow.

"I’m seeing what the process is, if I go out there and get it going tomorrow and have a chance to win that will be great and really exciting for me but equally, I'm looking forward to the next event and beyond and just keep doing what I'm doing because I think that I'm trending in the right direction again after a couple bad years."

Molinari goes low

Edoardo Molinari matched the low round of the week - a 63 - a score that would have looked unlikely after a bogey at the first. But he birdied the next five then posted an eagle in a six-hole run that started with a chip-in at the second and finished with a 47-footer dropping at the seventh. He is four off the lead.

Teenage dreams for Masaveu

Nineteen-year-old Spanish amateur Luis Masaveu played so well on Friday he made it into the digest and while he only managed a 70 in his third round, it did include six birdies and some shades of brilliance. Like these... remember the name!

Lee hitting the target

Min Woo Lee is just a shot behind going into Sunday and there were many highlights in his third round. But smashing a seven-iron 241 yards to a couple of feet probably tops the lot.
