Englishman Rai secured his first PGA TOUR win last month, claiming the Wyndham Championship by two shots as he converted his recent good form into silverware, climbing to a career-high 21st on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Tickets to see stars of the DP World Tour compete on what is regarded as one of the world’s best golf courses are selling fast and fans are urged to purchase soon to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be purchased via this link.

Rai, a two-time DP World Tour winner, has twice finished inside the top ten in the island of Ireland’s national open and is excited to tee it up in Newcastle next week.

“It is a tournament that I look forward to playing in each year and hopefully compete well in,” said Rai.

“This is my first time playing in an Irish Open at Royal County Down, a course which is ranked so highly for a reason, and I cannot wait to get started.

“I’ve played well in this event before, obviously coming so close in 2020 at Galgorm, but next week I’ll try my best and see where that puts me at the end of the week.”

South Africa’s van Rooyen is a two-time winner on the PGA TOUR, adding his 2023 World Wide Technology Championship title to his maiden Barracuda Championship victory in 2021.

The 2017 Challenge Tour graduate will be competing in his fourth Amgen Irish Open, his best finish coming at the 2018 edition held at Ballyliffin GC.

“This is my first time playing in an Irish Open at Royal County Down but I have played the course before and it is a real treat, so I’m excited to tee it up next week,” he said.

“It is going to be a good week. I am looking forward to it and I am just hoping to be in the mix come Sunday.”

Rai and van Rooyen will be joined by European stars Thomas Detry and Rasmus Højgaard, who will line up alongside brother Nicolai in the field at Royal County Down.
