After the European Tour's first visit to The Dutch in the Netherlands, we review some of the highlights of the week, from A-Z.
A – An– Byeong Hun-An claimed his fifth top ten of the season after taking third place at The Dutch.
B – Beat the Pro– On Thursday and Saturday, an amateur joined each group at the par three 14thto see who could hit the ball closest to the pin. There were five winners in total.
C – Course record– The Dutch had a course record set on moving day, when Brandon Stone shot a round of 63 to move himself into contention for the title. Joost Luiten went on to equal it on Sunday.
D – The Dutch– The European Tour visited The Dutch for the first time since the course opened in 2011.
E – Eagles– There were 20 eagles at the 490-yard par five sixth hole throughout the week.
F – Former winners– Returning to the KLM Open this week were five former winners – Joost Luiten, Maarten Lafeber, Ross Fisher, Simon Dyson and Peter Hanson.
G – Gros– Frenchman Sébastien Gros was the biggest of the movers on moving day, jumping 40 places on his way to a round of 65.
H – Hend– The Australian Scott Hend held the 54-hole lead for the second week running.
I – Inward nine– The hardest hole on the back stretch was the 486-yard par four 11th, with 140 bogeys made on it over the four rounds.
J – Joost Luiten– Luiten claimed his second KLM Open title on Sunday.
K – Khan– Simon Khan was the oldest player in the top ten after moving day, at 44 years of age.
L – Last hole– The par five 18thaveraged a score of exactly five over the week.
M – Making the cut– Three Dutchmen made the cut at their home tournament – Wil Besseling and former champions Luiten and Lafeber.
N – Nino Bertasio– The Italian shot his lowest 54-hole total of the season at The Dutch. His score of 200 was four shots better than his third round total at the Omega European Masters.
O – Opening hole– The 395-yard par four first was the ninth hardest hole of the week, averaging a score of 3.99.
P – Putting– Luiten put on a superb putting display on his way to his fifth European Tour win, taking 28 putts during his final round of 63.
Q – Qualification matters– With European Tour Race to Dubai points at stake, many players needed big weeks in the Netherlands. Ben Evans is just seven places away from being in the top 110 after sharing fourth at The Dutch.
R – Rowin Caron– The Dutch amateur Caron surprised everyone with a round of 66 on Thursday, which sent him into a share of second alongside An, Hanson and Bernd Wiesberger among others.
S – Stone– Stone went bogey-free in his impressive round of eight under par that set the course record.
T – Thomas Detry– After comprehensively winning the Bridgestone Challenge by 12 shots, Belgian Detry made just his third European Tour appearance last week. He was greeted by a horde of Belgian supporters on Friday.
U – Up and down– Luiten made a wonderful up and down on the 17thon Sunday and in the process secured his fifth birdie on the back nine.
V – Vierhout– Amateur Fleur Vierhout won the chance to take on the Beat the Pro Challenge on Saturday and then went on to hit her ball closer to the pin than her group of pros.
W – Wiesberger– The Austrian finished second to Luiten in his first appearance at the KLM Open in four years.
X – X marks the spot– This is the spot from which Luiten holed his winning putt on Sunday.
Y – Young winner– Benjamin Reuter stole the show on Thursday, with the 13 year old winning his Beat the Pro challenge against Nicolas Colsaerts, Y.E. Yang and Stephen Gallacher.
Z – Zero bogeys for Luiten– Home favourite Luiten went 51 holes without a bogey until the 16thon Saturday.
