A Story of Hope | Horizon Irish Open

Horizon - story of hope

Peter McEnery, who lives with Cystic Fibrosis, was reunited with Irish legend Padraig Harrington, 12 years after meeting at the 2010 Irish Open.

Just days after winning the US Senior Open, Harrington and McEnery were reunited as the pair enjoyed a special day in front of crowds at Mount Juliet Estate, with help from Horizon and Make-A-Wish Ireland.

The reunion came about with help from Make-A-Wish Ireland, the Official Charity of the Horizon Irish Open for the next six years. The tournament’s title partner Horizon Therapeutics is committed to long-term support of the charity which brings hope, strength and happiness to children with life-threatening conditions through granting their wishes. To launch the partnership, Horizon and the DP World Tour extended an invite for McEnery to play once again in this year’s Pro-Am alongside his golf hero.

McEnery, who lives with Cystic Fibrosis, was 14 years old when his wish came true to play alongside the three-time major title winner at Killarney Golf Club in 2010.

Now 26, the DP World Tour arranged to reunite Peter, and his family, with Padraig on a wonderful day at Mount Juliet Estate… which included a cameo from 2019 Open Champion Shane Lowry.
