Two Englishmen rose to the top of the leaderboard while a local teenager put on a show during the weather-delayed first round of the 2025 Porsche Singapore Classic.

Here is everything you need to know from Friday's first round at Laguna National Golf Resort Club.

Jordan and Armitage share lead

Matthew Jordan produced a back-nine birdie blitz to sign for an opening 65 and share the lead with Marcus Armitage after the first round. Morning starter Armitage set the early clubhouse target after firing an eagle, six birdies and a bogey in his 65 to get to seven under par before an impressive burst of scoring saw Jordan briefly take over at the top in the afternoon. Players heap praise on greenkeepers

After persistent rain meant no play was possible on Thursday, the staff at Laguna National Golf Resort Club worked long and hard to get the course playable for Friday's delayed first round. And after nine inches of rain on Thursday alone, the players were quick to praise their efforts after round one. Armitage said: "It’s amazing, I’ve never seen anything like it. Most golf courses, you wouldn’t be able to play on them for at least a week, so the greenkeepers have done an unbelievable job. The golf course played fantastic today, so really good job to them." Keita Nakajima said: "I'd like to say thank you to the course conditioning staff; the course condition was amazing for today from yesterday’s rain."

Local amateur puts on a show

Singaporean amateur Brayden Lee enjoyed a day to remember as he opened with a 69 which contained five birdies and two bogeys. The 17-year-old said: "It was a good day out there, I had a couple of chip-ins so it really made my round feel slightly better. I’m happy to be here. I didn’t really have any expectations. It’s not really all results-oriented, but it’s more like my mental state. I had the expectation to feel calm, which luckily I did."
