The DP World Tour remains in South Africa for the second of back-to-back events as the magnificent Leopard Creek plays host to the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Louis Oosthuizen returns to defend the title he won 12 months ago as a field of 156 men compete in the 72-hole strokeplay event, co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour.

The South African challenge also includes four-time DP World Tour winner and World Number 46 Thriston Lawrence, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Erik van Rooyen, Dean Burmester and last week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge runner-up Aldrich Potgieter.

Thriston Lawrence and Tom McKibbin, who both earned PGA TOUR cards at the end of last season’s Race to Dubai, are also teeing it up as are a plethora of fellow DP World Tour winners including Dan Bradbury, Pablo Larrazábal and Julien Guerrier.

Ryygs Johnston of the United States arrives as the top-ranked player on the Opening Swing rankings of those in action following his debut DP World Tour win in Australia last month, while Germany’s Matti Schmid and rising South African amateur talent Christiaan Maas have received tournament invites.

If you have not done so already, you can still sign up to play the official 2025 DP World Tour Fantasy game here and submit your six-man team before round one gets under way on Thursday.

What can I win?

There are plenty of prizes on offer throughout the 2025 season including the Ultimate Prize courtesy of DP World which includes:

Fantasy Insight: While the bookmakers have Oosthuizen as the favourite this week, players of our game see it differently with fellow former champion Bezuidenhout far and away the most picked player.

Bezuidenhout, who finished tied sixth last week at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, is in 74% of teams, with countryman Lawrence second at 63% and Romain Langasque third at 51%.

Local knowledge does appear imperative as home favourites Oosthuizen and Dean Burmester also feature in the top five, picked in 44% and 43% of teams.

FDPWT2025 Favourite, Form Horse, Wild Card (2)

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite – Christiaan Bezuidenhout

While Oosthuizen may be leading the betting markets, we’re highlighting another South African favourite. Bezuidenhout arrives in Malelane on the back of finishing tied sixth at the Nedbank Golf Challenge last week and will be eager to try and force his way back into the top 50 on the Official World Golf Ranking before the end of the year. Since representing his country at the Olympic Games in the summer, the 30-year-old has not missed a cut, finishing no worse than tied 33rd in five starts. But beside that consistent run of form, it is his recent record at Leopard Creek that makes him hard to ignore. After victory in 2020, he finished third last year and will be expecting to mount another title challenge.

Form Horse – Brandon Stone

In what was his comeback campaign on the DP World Tour after graduating from the Challenge Tour, the South African almost forced his way into the season-ending DP World Tour Championship after a fine finish on the Race to Dubai. After a run of four consecutive top 20 finishes from France through to Abu Dhabi, including two top tens, Stone made it five in succession as he finished tied 18th in his first start of the new season at last week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge. Like Bezuidenhout, Leopard Creek is a place that holds fond memories as it was the scene of his second DP World Tour title in 2016. In fact, three of his four DP World Tour titles have come in his homeland so don’t be surprised to see him in the mix at an event he has not missed since his debut in 2015.

Wild Card – David Ravetto

Despite being at long odds in the markets this week, the Frenchman is one not to be ruled out easily. After graduating from Qualifying School in 2023, Ravetto won twice in European Tour group events last year. The first of those came on the Challenge Tour on South African soil at the Dimension Data Pro-Am in February. His second came at the D+D REAL Czech Masters in August as he became the first of three French first-time winners on the DP World Tour's 2024 Race to Dubai. While he finished fourth a week later in Denmark, he struggled to maintain that form but that didn’t stop him making last month’s lucrative DP World Tour Championship.

Looking back – Nedbank Golf Challenge

Johannes Veerman featured in just over 3% of teams last week, while he rewarded 14 players who selected him as their team Captain.

Our pre-event pick as Favourite Max Homa finished tied 14th on his title defence in Sun City, with Form Horse Paul Waring 24th, while our Wild Card selection Ryan van Velzen finished tied 48th on his debut at Africa’s Major.
