Lucas Bjerregaard made ten birdies and no bogeys across 28 holes on day three of the 2024 Danish Golf Championship to hit the front, while an amateur star continued to look comfortable on the big stage.

Bjerregaard prospers on mammoth day

Bjerregaard had an early start on Saturday morning, returning to the course to complete the final ten holes of his second round. But he showed no signs of tiredness as he made five birdies on the back nine to hold a two-shot lead at the halfway stage. And the home favourite produced another back-nine birdie blitz in round three to get to 12 under par and lead by two shots heading into the final round.

McKibbin makes hot start

Starting from the tenth tee on Saturday, Tom McKibbin could hardly have made a better start to his third round. After opening up with an eagle from 23 feet, he then birdied the 11th, 12th and 14th to climb into contention. He eventually signed for a second successive 67 to get to five under.

Amazing amateur puts on a show

Amateur Champion Jacob Skov Olesen is enjoying a fine DP World Tour debut on home soil. He made a huge move in round three, signing for a second consecutive bogey-free 66 to jump to nine under par and sit within striking distance of the lead. He said: "I'm pleased. I think I played really well. I'm happy with the way I kept the ball in front of me and just stayed patient and took the chances when they came around."
