The 2024 Race to Dubai schedule sees players face another challenge of links golf this week as three world-renowned courses in Scotland play host to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Held over St Andrews' Old Course, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie since 2001, the event has again attracted a world-class field full of Major champions.

Among those are Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick and Brooks Koepka.

Also in action is recent BMW PGA Championship winner Billy Horschel, while Tyrrell Hatton is looking to become the first player to win this title for a third time.

Pádraig Harrington, who is also seeking to claim a historic third success, is joined by David Howell as the only two professionals to have played in every edition of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

If you have not done so already, you can sign up to play the official 2024 DP World Tour Fantasy game here and submit your six-man team before round one gets under way on Thursday.

The 2024 season-long winner will win a trip to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai next year, enjoy a lesson with a DP World Tour professional and a round of golf on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. For more information on this amazing prize and others, read here.

Fantasy Insight: In terms of popularity among Fantasy users, Horschel is the most picked player in the early stages of selection, featuring in just over 80% of teams.

Next comes Rahm, who narrowly missed out on winning the acciona Open de España presented by Madrid for a fourth time in a play-off last week, who is selected in almost 77% of squads.

Home hero Robert MacIntyre is then in third at 54%, followed by his fellow 2023 Ryder Cup-winning teammates Hatton and Lowry.

Here, we pick out three players in action this week who are worth considering for your Fantasy team selections.

Favourite - Rory McIlroy

Unsurprisingly, we start with the top-ranked player in the field. Since finishing third on his debut in this event as a teenager in 2007, McIlroy has recorded five further top tens. Among those are three runner-up finishes, while he was tied fourth on his most recent visit in 2022. Further to his extensive record over links layouts, including his triumph at The Open in 2014, the Northern Irishman comes into the event after back-to-back second-placed finishes at the BMW PGA Championship and Amgen Irish Open. Except for his missed cut in The 152nd Open at Royal Troon in July, he has made the cut in all nine of his other starts on the DP World Tour this season.

Form Horse - Tommy Fleetwood

A winner at the start of the year in the Dubai Invitational, Fleetwood has since enjoyed six top tens worldwide, including at the Olympic Games. The latest of those came last week at Spain's national open, a result that moved him back to the cusp of the top ten on the Official World Golf Ranking. An ever-present visitor to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship since 2011, the Englishman missed the cut for the first time last year but he is a two-time runner-up and another player who relishes the challenge of links golf. With qualification for the DP World Tour Play-Offs already guaranteed, adding another DP World Tour title to his mantelpiece will be high up on his wish list before the year is out.

Wild Card - Grant Forrest

Everyone loves to root for a home hope and Forrest could be the one to be celebrating on the Swilcan Bridge at the end of the week. Earlier in the season, from the Hero Indian Open to the U.S. Open, the Scot missed the cut or retired in six of seven starts. But since then he has featured over the weekend in eight consecutive events, most notably registering top five finishes at the Amgen Irish Open and acciona Open de España presented by Madrid. Those results have lifted him inside the top 50 on the Race to Dubai, boosting his bid to feature in both of the DP World Tour Play-Offs at the end of the campaign. With top tens in each of his last two appearances at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. and remembering his sole DP World Tour title to date came on home soil at Fairmont St Andrews, the 31-year-old is worth serious consideration.

Looking back - acciona Open de España presented by Madrid

Spaniard Angel Hidalgo proved to be a surprise winner last week, featuring in just 2% of teams and captained by zero players.

For the second week running, our Favourite Jon Rahm lost out in a play-off to finish second, while Form Horse Matt Wallace finished in a tie for 24th and Wild Card Alfredo Garcia-Heredia finished tied tenth - his third top ten in as many years at his national open.
