On a leaderboard dominated by Swedes it is Niclas Fasth who remains in the driving seat for the Madeira Island Open title after extending his lead to two shots with a four under par 68 at the spectacular Santo da Serra course.

Niclas Fasth held his ground at the top of the leaderboard with a level par 72 at Santo da Serra as he continues his quest to become the fourth Swede to win the Madeira Island Open title in the past eight years.
Pedro Linhart and Mats Lanner, winners of the last two Madeira Island Open titles, return to the beautiful Portuguese territory in the Atlantic Ocean to make another attempt to capture another championship on the European Tour.
Niclas Fasth led from start to finish to become the fourth Swedish winner of the Madeira Island Open in the past eight years. A final round of 73, one over par, at Santo da Serra was enough to earn the 27-year-old his maiden European Tour victory by two shots.

Sweden’s Niclas Fasth, runner-up in the European Tour Qualifying School Finals last year, set the early pace with an opening 66, six under par, to lead the Madeira Island Open at Santo da Serra.
