Who is Marcus Kinhult?

Marcus Kinhult fired a sensational 65 on Friday at the HNA Open de France to get to six under and catapult himself right into contention heading into the weekend at the season's third Rolex Series event.

The 21 year old Swede is playing just his 31st European Tour event this week so we've decided to get to know him a little better.

Here is everything you need to know about Marcus Kinhult.

1- Hails from from Skafto, a small island off the west coast of Sweden where he lived right next to the golf course at Skafto Golf Club.

2- His father was a professional golfer and is now a teaching pro at the family's local course.

3- Played in the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup alongside fellow European Tour Members Bradley Neil and Renato Paratore, losing 16-8 to a team containing Austin Connelly.

4 - Also played in the 2014 Youth Olympics where he won the silver medal behind Paratore.

- Became only the third amateur to lead a European Tour event at the halfway stage after opening with 68-67 in the Nordea Masters on home soil in June 2015. The other were Shane Lowry (2009 Irish Open) and Jimmy Mullen (2015 Dunhill Links).

6- His sister Frida is ranked as the fifth best female amateur in Europe. She won the 2017 Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship and also played in the Junior Solheim Cup in last year.

- Kinhult has said he received some good career advice from Barry Lane, who has a house on the island where Marcus grew up.

8- His dream fourball would be Ben Hogan, Tiger Woods and Roger Federer.

9- Away from golf he likes to play paddle tennis.

10- Came through the Qualifying School in 2015 but made just two cuts in 12 European Tour events in 2016.

11- Had 11 top ten finishes on the Challenge Tour in 31 starts. Finished fifth in the Road to Oman in 2017 to get his European Tour card back.

12- Finished third at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in February but then missed four of his next five cuts before finishing in a tie for 12th at the BMW PGA Championship. Currently 62nd in the Race to Dubai.
