Tommy Fleetwood is relishing at returning to Sun City for 'Africa's Major' as he targets an elusive first win of the season at the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player.
The World Number 18 has recorded five top ten finishes in the 2019 Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex, including four in his last six events.
However, heading into the seventh Rolex Series event of the campaign at Gary Player Country Club, Fleetwood is still waiting for European Tour title number five since winning the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA in January 2018.
The 28-year-old rued the missed opportunities to get back into the winner's circle this season but is determined to play to his strengths in Sun City.
"Really nice to be back," Fleetwood said. "I missed last year, the way scheduling worked out. Coming back, I've played it for a few years now and it's got such a great atmosphere, it's such a big event. It always has been.
"It continues to get bigger and in terms of how important it is to the season, coming down to the final couple of events, it's special.
"I think if you look at the list of winners from Lee (Westwood), Ernie (Els), Nick Price, Seve (Ballesteros), Sergio (Garcia), Henrik (Stenson); it's a strong list of ball-strikers, and I would very much like to be on that list.
"All you can do is take it one shot at a time, but I think if I play to my strengths, if I do those things well, then it should suit me.
"If there was a win, then the season would probably look a lot better. But you know, at the end of the day, that's kind of what you're looking for and sometimes that's out of your hands.
"I feel at times it probably was in my hands and I didn't finish it off."
Bernd Wiesberger insists he is not taking his position at the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings as he leads Spaniard Jon Rahm by 387 points heading into the final two events of the season.
The Austrian, who was sat 389th in the Official World Golf Rankings as recently as May this year before a stunning run of form saw him win three times in 13 events, can extend his advantage with a strong performance in South Africa as Rahm is not competing at Gary Player Country Club.
But Wiesberger is adamant he is focusing on one round at a time, despite 10,000 Race to Dubai points on offer in Sun City, during a successful campaign he describes as a "bonus".
"Not looking too much into that. Just so many points to be had over the last events again and a lot of things can happen," he said.
"I'm just looking to be prepared as good as I can. Not looking too much into the ranking and just controlling what I can control.
"This year was kind of meant to get back into the groove of playing golf. Honestly I was not sure how it was going to turn out because I had to keep my card, and the way it did this year is a bonus, and everything that happens the last two weeks, even more so.
"I'm just going out there, trying our best, eight more rounds of golf to play and hopefully we can make it really, really good ones and count them up in Dubai."
