For the second successive week an Irishman is the halfway leader on the Challenge Tour. Last week it was David Higgins in Is Molas. This time Francis Howley heads the field in the Open des Volcans.

While the spotlight is usually on the younger members of the Challenge Tour, five players with an average age of 30 share the lead on five-under-par 67 after the opening round of the Open des Volcans in France.
England's Philip Golding completed his first Challenge Tour victory for six years when he won the Open des Volcans in France.

England's Philip Golding, who has not won a Challenge Tour title for six years, leads with one round remaining of the Open des Volcans in France.
David Park's magnificent achievements on the main Tour over the past couple of weeks should put a spring in the step of every Challenge Tour player competing in this week's events in France and Switzerland.
