Zanotti, who twice qualified for the prestigious DP World Tour Championship in 2014 and 2015, played an impeccable round on Sunday, notching a nine under par 63 to win his second European Tour event.

Lipsky failed to birdie the last to force a play-off, while Masters Tournament Champion Danny Willett finished in a tie for fifth.

Lipsky had led by three shots with four to play, but needed to birdie the last two holes after Zanotti, who started the day six off the lead, rolled in a 15-foot putt on the 18th to set the clubhouse target.

He picked up a shot on the 17th, but was unable to get up and down from a greenside bunker on the par five last and had to settle for second, with Austria's Bernd Wiesberger a further shot back.

Lipsky's runner-up finish won him 307,790 points and moved from 24th to sixth in the rankings.

Wiesberger took third place and gained 173,410 points, moving from 21st to ninth. France's Alexander Levy made a giant leap after finishing fourth, moving from 128th to 24th and 138,507 points.
