Zanotti and Gallacher make good progress

Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti and Scotland's Stephen Gallacher showed there were low scores to be had at the third round of the Madrid Masters.

The 27 year old Zanotti had five birdies and an eagle three at the 16th in his seven under par 65 which took him to eight under for the week.

Gallacher - nephew of former Ryder Cup Captain Bernard - fired seven birdies with a solitary bogey to be level with Zanotti in the clubhouse at Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo.

Both were still some way behind leader Luke Donald - last week's BMW PGA Championship runner-up was still to tee off after reaching halfway at 12 under par as Zanotti and Gallacher handed their cards in.

Veteran Spaniard Ignacio Garrido birdied three of his first four to join Jamie Donaldson in third on nine under, two behind Donald's nearest challenger Rhys Davies who was playing in the final pairing.
